The greatest rivals in Marvel history are reunited on television.
On Super Bowl Sunday, the first Deadpool 3 trailer (below) dropped, with Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine. Furthermore, the teaser reveals that Deadpool & Wolverine is the movie’s official title and details how the R-rated Merc with a Mouth is scheming to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In the video, Wade Wilson played by Reynolds is located by agents of the Time Variance Authority, a multiverse organisation first revealed in the Disney+ series Loki. Wade, you’re unique. The TVA persona played by Matthew Macfadyen declares, “This is your chance to be a hero among heroes.”
Wade says, “I smell what you’re stepping in, sensei.” “A huge change is going to occur in your small cinematic universe. The messiah is me. “Marvel Jesus, I am.”
This is Jackman’s ninth appearance as the Marvel Comics superhero and his first appearance since he seemingly left the role with Logan in 2017.
Additionally, it’s the first time Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool/Wade Wilson and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine have shared a screen since 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a movie in which the two frequently make fun of each other.
Deadpool 3, which opens in theaters on July 26, is directed by Shawn Levy, a common friend of the two actors who previously helmed Reynolds in Free Guy and The Adam Project and Jackman in Real Steel.
When Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige showed up at the Saturn Awards earlier this week to accept an award for Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3, he seemed to be hinting to the release of the first trailer. He was spotted sporting a black baseball cap with a circular Wolverine-and-Deadpool-inspired insignia.
Emma Corrin from The Crown and Matthew Macfadyen from Succession will also be in Deadpool 3, along with Rob Delaney (Sugar Bear), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), and Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), who appeared in Deadpool and Deadpool 2.
